Why EquateIt for Private tutoring

Private tutoring means one student, one tutor, and a session built entirely around that student's gaps — not a syllabus chapter, not what the class did last week. We don't run group sessions or sell pre-packaged programs. Every student is matched to a tutor who knows the specific subject and year level they're studying. That matching matters: a Year 12 Mathematical Methods tutor is not the same as a Year 9 Maths tutor, and we treat them differently. Most students who come to us have a specific, identifiable problem — a concept they haven't grasped, a subject they're falling behind in, an exam they need to prepare for. We start with a free diagnostic that finds exactly what's costing marks, and because the tutor is private, the plan changes the moment the student's needs do. Parents stay in the loop without chasing anyone — attendance, topics covered and improving areas, visible every week. In-home or online, primary school through VCE.

Frequently asked questions

How do you match a student with the right private tutor?

After the free assessment, we match based on three things: subject and year level (expertise match), availability, and student personality fit. Tutors are not generalists — a VCE Specialist Maths tutor has a very different background from a Year 7–10 Maths tutor, and we match accordingly.

What subjects do your private tutors cover?

VCE Maths (Mathematical Methods, Specialist, Further), Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology), English, Economics and junior Maths for Years 3–10. We're focused on the areas where specialist knowledge genuinely improves results.

Do private tutors come to our home?

Yes — our Melbourne tutors travel to your home for in-person sessions. We also offer online sessions for families who prefer remote tutoring or who are outside our current in-home coverage areas.

How much does private tutoring in Melbourne cost?

Rates depend on year level. VCE tutoring is $60/hr online and $70/hr in-person; Years 7–10 are $50/hr online and $60/hr in-person. Current rates are always listed on our pricing page and confirmed before you commit — no lock-in contracts, no registration fees.
