Why EquateIt for Home tutoringing

In-home tutoring keeps the student in a familiar environment with no commute, no parking, and no time lost in transit. Our Melbourne tutors travel to your home and run 1-on-1 sessions at the student's desk. This works particularly well for younger students who settle better at home than in an unfamiliar environment, and for VCE students whose schedules are already packed with school, sport and commitments. We match tutors based on the student's subject, year level and suburb. Tutors bring everything required for an effective session, and the work doesn't stop when they drive away — practice questions are marked as the student attempts them, so mistakes get caught the same evening. Parents don't need to sit in on sessions to know how they went: attendance and improving topics arrive in a weekly summary. We currently cover a range of Melbourne suburbs for in-home sessions, expanding as we add tutors. If your suburb isn't yet covered in-home, we offer online sessions with the same tutors and platform — the experience is very close.

Frequently asked questions

Which Melbourne suburbs do your home tutors cover?

We currently offer in-home tutoring across Melbourne's south-east (Carrum Downs, Cranbourne West, Seaford, Frankston and surrounds) and inner-east (Camberwell and nearby). We're adding tutors in more suburbs — contact us and we'll let you know availability in your area.

What subjects are available for in-home tutoring?

VCE Mathematical Methods, Specialist Maths, Chemistry and Physics are our strongest in-home subjects. We also cover Years 7–10 Maths for in-home sessions. English, Biology and Economics in-home availability depends on tutor location — ask us what's available near you.

Is in-home tutoring more expensive than online?

In-home sessions are $10 more per hour than online, reflecting travel time and coordination. Many families find the convenience and the settled environment for their student worth it.

What if there are no in-home tutors available in our suburb?

We'll match you with an online tutor in the same subject immediately. Our online sessions run on a shared whiteboard, and the same specialists who do in-home sessions are often available online. Many families do a mix — in-person some weeks, online others — and find the outcomes identical.
